Our Mission

The body is the mediun through which we create art. Hivewild’s vision is one in which movement-based artworks act as a conduit to create more united communities. We aim to be local leaders by actively engaging in cross-disciplinary collaboration, skill-sharing, and the creation of accessible performance work.

Who We Are

Hivewild is a Brooklyn-based contemporary dance and movement initiative, founded in 2016 by choreographer Katherine Maxwell. Through the creation and sharing of dance films, works for the mainstage and site-specific live performances, Hivewild engages thousands from all walks of life, while promoting creative collaborations amongst their team of 20 artists: dancers, photographers, videographers, costume designers, musicians, and beyond. Hivewild believes movement is intrinsic to each of our daily existences and uses the understanding that every human has a body as a starting point to identify connections between people. Hivewild's work is rooted in radical compassion and lifelong curiosity.
