Our Mission
About Project Heart Project Heart provides a safe, supportive environment for individuals and families navigating life’s most destabilizing challenges. Serving Nevada and Placer counties, California, the organization helps people facing recovery, reentry, housing instability, and other difficult transitions find practical support and meaningful connection. Project Heart’s work begins with a simple belief: people can rebuild their lives when someone is willing to walk beside them. Weekly men’s and women’s groups offer a place to be heard, build trust, and find encouragement. One-on-one peer mentorship brings support from people who understand the value of showing up consistently. Community service and shared activities help participants strengthen relationships, rediscover purpose, and feel part of their community. The organization also helps people take concrete steps toward stability. Its team connects eligible Medi-Cal members with CalAIM housing supports, including housing navigation and assistance that can help them remain housed. Through jail in-reach, reentry support, and partnerships within the justice system, Project Heart works with people before and after release as they prepare for what comes next. Staff and peers help participants navigate resources, appointments, and the everyday challenges that can make a fresh start difficult to sustain. Recovery and stability rarely follow a straight line. Project Heart offers a place to return, people who will listen, and support grounded in dignity and accountability. By bringing together peers, families, community partners, and supporters, it helps create a community where more people have the chance to move forward.
