Trips for Kids

Operating in the United States, Canada, Israel and Sierra Leone, Trips for Kids® (TFK®) has opened the world of cycling to over 142,500 at-risk youth since 1988 through mountain bike rides and Earn-A-Bike programs. The over 70 Trips for Kids chapters we support combine lessons in confidence building, achievement and environmental awareness through the development of practical skills, and the simple act of having fun.

COLON CANCER FOUNDATION

Our Promise • To raise awareness of colorectal cancer (CRC), the importance of early detection and the most effective screening methods available; • To increase awareness of CRC risk factors and factors that may help prevent CRC, including knowing one’s family/genetic cancer history, exercise and nutrition; • To reduce the disparity that exists in CRC incidence and mortality rates by providing funds to improve screening rates in underserved and uninsured communities; • To award translational research grants to young investigators studying genetic and epigenetic changes that will ultimately lead to new breakthroughs in the prevention of, therapy for and elimination of CRC in our lifetime; • To leverage the impact of our donors’ support by developing broad public/private partnerships with local, regional, national and global organizations invested in a mutual goal of colorectal cancer prevention and early detection.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA of the South Plains recruits, trains, and supports a diverse community of volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. These volunteers serve as Advocates for children that are victims of abuse and neglect and provide these children a voice while their case is in the court system. CASA’s vision is to provide: A CASA volunteer for every child; who strives to secure a safe, nurturing, permanent environment for every child.

Basic Dignities Corp

Basic Dignities is dedicated to undertaking projects bringing basic human dignities, including clean water, education, health care, and more to communities both nationally and internationally where such services are insufficient for the wellbeing of those who live there. Each project is an opportunity to not only bring life-extending care to those in need, but to potentially increase the use of sustainable materials, improve on currently used systems, and offer the means for communities to take genuine ownership of new programs and systems implemented. All projects will be based on community need and provided on a charitable basis without consideration to race, religion, or any other legally protected status.

Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program

The inspiration and design for Women of Tomorrow is based on our Founder's, Jennifer Valoppi, college years studying Psychology of Women. Jennifer says, “The research was clear - the real problem with true equality for women is not so much that men think that women are inferior, but that women agreed. The women who do make it to the top like being the only ones there and don’t do anything to help other women along.” Studies show that research still holds true today. Jennifer wanted to change that. So in 1997, while she was the main news anchor at NBC 6 in Miami, Jennifer designed a unique program for highly accomplished professional women to reach out to at-risk girls. With the support of then NBC 6 President & General Manager Don Browne, a long time supporter of women and minorities in the workplace and of mentoring as a tool for empowering people, Women of Tomorrow was created. Since then we have served 11,000 at-risk high school girls.
