Foundation of Joy
Foundation of Joy creates art--cinema, mixed media, photography, theater and music to raise funds and awareness of the issues affecting children in the U.S and globally: education, hunger, climate change, art, healthcare, mental health, foster care, racial equality, gender equality and homelessness. We also work in the realm of women's human rights and education. We work with the nonprofits doing the daily work, and we tell their stories. The stories raise awareness and funds that not only educate--they go back to the nonprofits. We also use volunteer work as a way to raise funds, and raise awareness of the stories we create---it's a circular model that results in a win-win for all. The art helps educate and fund, and we create the art through acts of service. And the best part---we have an incredible group of artists who mentor kids and young adults in the creation of this art, and telling these stories, so the kids are the artists in solving these issues. Art spreads Joy. We're working on an anthology of shorts, created by mentors and the kids, that cover these issues. Documentary and narrative film, music, photography, theater---art! "No problem can be addressed effectively until it has been accurately identified. Climate change has not been accurately identified." This is the problem Earth Ship Limited is working to correct. Climate change is a slow moving, inexorable and extremely lethal problem. However, the public has been led to believe otherwise. That’s because our leaders today, in government and in industry, have no incentive whatsoever to tell the public bad news; bad news not get you votes, nor does it increase sales. As a result, the world thinks climate change is manageable, and sustainability is an achievable goal. Both of these statements are completely false. The Earth Ship Program is attempting to raise money in order to explain to the world the real science behind climate change - as explained on our website. We expect corporate American to support this effort because our innovative business model proves a substantial profit in return for any donation.
